Gerald F. Kolb, 93, of Highland/Schererville passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017. He is survived by his son; Chris Kolb, grandchildren; Christal (Skip) Seeger, Courtney (Todd) Woodruff, Rachel Kolb, and Chelsea (Conor) Smith, 4 great-grandchildren, brother; Virgil (Lois) Kolb, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jeanne, parents; Michael and Mayme Kolb, brothers; Jerome (Ann), Bob (Frances), and Clarence (Betty), and a sister; Lucille (James) Ikovic.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd., Highland, IN from 2pm to 6pm (prayer service at 2:30 pm). A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, May 22, 2017, DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Grace Church, 3025 Highway Ave., Highland, IN at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at Catholic Cemeteries, Hammond, IN.
Gerald was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp, in which he served during WWII in the South Pacific islands of Iwo Jima, Saipan, Marianas, and Gilberts. He was also a longtime member of Our Lady of Grace Church. Gerald will most be remembered for being a master carpenter and a 'jack of all trades'; as well as the most kind and gentle man one could know.
