Gregory Allen Abate, was born on December 14, 1952 in St. Joseph, Michigan, the 3rd child, of Carl & Phyllis E. (Potts) Abate. He spent his youth playing baseball and basketball. And in the summer of 1964, he and his family moved from Michigan to Bryan, Ohio; where he was both active in Junior high football and basketball. When not involved in sports, he was involved in music; lead singer and keyboardist for a junior high “rock” band. And later in high school, he kept busy playing the Trumpet too. Greg will always be remembered for being the smart one of the family. Would have graduated with the BHS class of 1971, but finished high school in Tucson, AZ. But more importantly he will be remembered as both the big and baby brother, the Uncle, the Cousin, the father, and beloved grandfather. He is predeceased by his parents, Carl & Phyllis Potts Abate. And he leaves behind two sisters, Susan Psurny (Frank) of Leesburg, FL, sister Catherine Abate of Colorado Springs, CO, a brother, Michael Abate also of Colorado Springs, CO, a daughter Sarah Abate of Bryan, OH, two sons, Elton Robinett (Jen) of Cape Coral,FL. & Andy Robinett of Columbus, OH, four granddaughters – Hannah, Madison, Mackensie & Gretchen; one grandson - Noah ; and nieces and nephews: Frank Psurny, III, Tamara Psurny, Krista Abate, Cori & Claire Spencer Abate, Megan Abate; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Greg most recently served his Lord, his church and his community running the Food Pantry at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church on 220 West Fountain Grove Drive, Bryan, Ohio 43506. Our brother, father, uncle, grandfather and friend will be missed by all of us who call this earth our home.
