British Nobility. Third Baron Methuen of Corsham. After he taking part in the Boer War, he became Commander-in-chief in South Africa, and later, at age 70, Governor of Malta. In 1911 he was promoted to the rank of Field-Marshal. In his last years he was called the "Father of the British Army" and was one of its oldest living officers.
