BARNARDSVILLE – Roger F. Morgan, age 72, of Buckner Branch Road went to be with the Lord Friday, May 19, 2017.
Roger was born December 9, 1944 in Buncombe County to the late Creed Sumpter and Lula James “Jamie” Dillingham Morgan. He graduated in 1963 from North Buncombe High School and attended N.C. State University. Roger built houses and did home remodeling for 25 plus years and retired as an inspector with Buncombe County. He loved cattle farming and enjoyed gatherings with family and friends. A member of Vance Masonic Lodge #293 AF and AM, he was a former Master.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Teague Morgan to whom he was married 49 years; sisters, Faye Hunt and Ann Edwards and brothers, Cecil and Jack Morgan.
Surviving are his daughter, Marcia Stephenson and husband Rick of Cary; sons, Britt Morgan and wife Jessica and Seth Morgan all of Barnardsville; sisters, Betty Hensley and Minerva Jones, both of Barnardsville and Jo Edith Burchfiel of Cullowhee and brother, Ray Morgan and wife JoAnn of Barnardsville.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2017 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Reverend Worth Emory officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites by Vance Lodge. The lodge will open at 9:30 a.m. (Edited by Jeff Lovelace.)
