Died at age 90.
She was a sister of the late John W. Garrett, and an aunt of the late Robert Garrett and his brother T. Harrison Garrett. Her husband was Dr. Edward Hiram White, who for many years practiced medicine in Baltimore, and was a native of Salisbury. He died June 2, 1897.
She donated the money that was eventually used to create the parkland around Lake Roland, Baltimore, to be named for Robert E. Lee.
She actually left the money to create a fine equestrian statue of Robert E. Lee, and her nephew petitioned the court to have the money used to create Robert E. Lee Park instead.

The appropriate section in her will read:
...leave money so that her executor "shall place, or cause to be placed, in Druid Hill Park, in my name (Elizabeth B. Garrett) in some prominent place, a handsome Equestrian Statue of General Robert E. Lee...".

Baltimore City death certificate number D-10045.
