Connie Ray Darland, 72, Harrodsburg, KY, husband of Joyce Ann Baker Darland, died Thursday his home. Born August 26,1944, in Harrodsburg, to the late Ben and Ray Evelyn (Devine) Darland. Connie was a 1962 graduate of Mercer County High School and retired, after 30 years, from E. W. Brown Power Plant. He has been a member of the Hopewell Baptist church for over 60 years, where he served as Sunday School teacher, trustee and choir member.
Connie is survived by: his wife of 52 years: Joyce Ann (Baker) Darland, one daughter: Stacie Otis Darland of Mercer Co., and one son: Kevin (Kim) Darland of Lexington, two sisters: Margaret Ward of Harrodsburg, and Ruth Hatter of Danville, and one brother: Dale Thomas (Rhonda) Darland of Harrodsburg, four grand children, Brandon, Ryan & Kristin Darland and Caleb Otis; one great granddaughter, Kinsley Sophia Darland. Connie was preceded in death by five brothers, J.B., Marvin, George, Floyd, and Earl Darland, and two sisters, Virginia Matherly and Gloria Jean Murphy.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8 pm at the Hopewell Baptist Church, Harrodsburg, KY.
Pallbearers will be: Brandon Darland, Ryan Darland, Caleb Otis, Rodney Thompson, Johnny Dickerson and Mike Ward. Honorary Bearers will be: J.H. Whitenack, Gene Motley, James Dobson and David Chumley.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 1:00 pm at Hopewell Baptist Church by Doug Wesley. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Baptist Cemetery, Harrodsburg. The family request memorial donations be sent to: Hopewell Cemetery Foundation, c/o Brenda Royalty, 457 Haddix Street, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.
