Julia Corrine Gibson, 91, of Westminster, began her walk with the Lord on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Carroll Hospice Dove House.

Born on November 6, 1925 in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Reed and Irene Dickson Sheffey. She was the wife of the late James Earl Gibson, who predeceased her on November 12, 1976.

Julia as a young girl was baptized at Center St. Baptist Church and later attended Grace Lutheran Church with her son. Julia was schooled as a Nurses Aid and worked at a nursing home in Manchester and then for Rosewood State Hospital, caring for the handicapped children. She also trained in The Good Neighbor program to care for the elderly in their homes in cooperation with the American Red Cross and Bureau of Aging. In 1981, she retired from Western Maryland College as a custodian after an illness.

Julia successfully raised three children James “Jim”, Irene “Renee”, and Ernest “Ernie” along with lots of grandchildren. She was and is blessed and blessed everyone she was around

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 22 from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster with Rev. Edna Smith officiating. Interment will be in Ellsworth Cemetery.
