Opal Wadine (Dean) Stone, 73, of Houston, Texas passed away May 2, 2017 after a long illness. She was born in Galena Park, Texas on December 15, 1943 to Jack and Eleanor StClair. Dean graduated from Galena Park High School.
She married Russell (Rusty) Stone on July 25, 1979 and shared 37 years and 9 months of marriage with him. Together they took pride in building a close-knit family. Dean was a fireball who didn't put up with nonsense from anyone. She loved her family deeply but she never missed an opportunity to keep someone in line. Her disciplined personality affectionately earned her the nickname "The Enforcer."
Dean loved travelling and camping and being able to share those passions with her family. She was an avid supporter of her grandchildren's activities, having never missed a band performance or game. Despite living her whole life in the greater Houston area, Dean was a lover of cold weather. Several inches of snow and below freezing temperatures never deterred her from wearing short-sleeves and shorts. She even insisted that wearing shorts were a good luck charm to her grandson and nephew's sporting games.
Wadine is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Eleanor StClair and father-in-law Ray Stone of Mart, Texas.
Left to cherish Dean's memory include her loving husband Russell, daughter Carol Wadine Kefauver, grandson Cameron Clark Kefauver, and granddaughter Madison Wadine Kefauver, Deer Park; son R.W. and daughter-in-law Carolyn Symmonds of Cold Springs, Texas and granddaughter Mackenzie Symmonds of Conroe, Texas. She also leaves behind grandson and granddaughter William and Melissa Sessom and great-grandchildren Morgan, Savannah, and Daniel of Grapevine, Texas and grandson and granddaughter Bobby and Kristen Flores and great grandchildren Jazzlyn and Isabella of Pasadena, Texas. As well as, mother-in-law Sue Stone, brother and sister-in-law Bobby and Janet Summers of Mart, Texas and brother-in-law Randy stone of Dallas. Nephew and niece Jarad and Brittni Summers, great-niece and nephew Mollee and Mason of Riesel, Texas, and nephew and niece Landon and Casey Summers, great nephew Lennon of Mart, Texas and numerous cousins and great cousins.
A visitation will be held Friday May 5, from 5-8pm at Grand View Funeral Home. A graveside Celebration of Dean's Life will be Saturday May 6 at 1pm at Grand View Memorial Park.
