Dora May "Doris" Holmes, 71, of 108 N. Main St., Oakfield, dies Sunday, June 21, 1998, at her residence.
She was born March 27, 1927, in Salem, Ore., a daughter of Peter and Theresa Wackoich Tanzer.
Holmes worked at Mayville Engineering, from which she retired, for 20 years. She enjoyed animals and had one of the first Giant Schnauzers which was world champion on five different continents. Her favorite dog was Zella.
Prior to moving to Oakfield, Holmes lived in Mayville.
Survivors include one son, Michael of Oakfield, four grandchildren, Sheri of Schaumberg, Ill., Michael Jr. of Fond du Lac, Melissa of San Diego, Calif., and Keith of Yucca Valley, Calif.; one brother, Bernie Tanzer of Milwaukee, Ore., and one sister, Donna of California.
Preceding her in death were her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Martin Koehler will officiate. Burial will be at Avoca Cemetery.
Visitation: From 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
