HEYBURN — Geraldine “Jerri” F. Leonard, 75 year old Heyburn resident, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at her home in Heyburn. Jerri was born May 1, 1942 in Acequia, Idaho, the daughter of Earl and Alice Brassfield Hess. She attended schools in Acequia. She and her family moved to California, where she graduated from high school. It was in California where she met and married her husband, Charles “Mike” Leonard on June 11, 1961 in Santa Ana, California. To this union were born two children, a daughter Lisa and a son Bryan. In 1972 they packed up the family and moved back to Jerri’s home state, Idaho. After being back in Idaho for a few years she went to work at Kmart. She worked there for years until Kmart moved locations and then she retired from Kmart. Then years later she worked for the state as a potato inspector. She loved to bowl, and has numerous trophies showing her accomplishments. She also love to work in her yard and flower beds. She also loved to read and was always exchanging books with her sisters-in-law Georgia and Helen. She loved to do crossword puzzles. She said that it helped to keep her mind sharp. Her biggest love were her children but most of all was her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and when they were younger and in school she was able to watch them after school. Then she was blessed with a great granddaughter. She even babysat her until her health would no longer let her.

She is survived by her husband Charles “Mike” Leonard of Heyburn, her children Lisa Church of Rupert and Bryan “Bud” Leonard of Heyburn. Her grandkids, Garrison Woodman and Lyndy Woodman both of Rupert, and her great granddaughter Addison Woodman. Her brothers, Don (Georgia) Hess of Rupert, Raymond (Helen) Hess of Declo, Gerald (Jerry) Hess, her twin brother of Rupert; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Hess and Shirley Hess. Numerous nieces and nephews and lots of good friends also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jackie Casad, Carol Andrew; her brothers Stanly Moore, Thurman Hess, Duain Hess and her Uncle Bill and her Aunt Alta Hanserd.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert. Urn placement will take place at a later date in the Rupert Cemetery.
