Davis - Funeral for former Ada resident VERA "BIG MAMA" FOUNTAIN BARRICK, 92, of Davis, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Ada, with Scott Young officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Barrick died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, in a Sulphur hospital.
She was born April 29, 1914, in Stratford, to Claude Hooper and Elva Robinson Hooper. She attended school at Stratford. She was a nurse at Valley View Hospital for many years and was also a homemaker. She attended Southwest Church of Christ.
She married Hubert Fountain in 1932. He preceded her in death in 1962. She married Bill Barrick on Jan. 1, 1965. He preceded her in death in 1976.
Survivors include a son, Frank Fountain and his wife Chursey of Ada; a daughter, Willena Kay Wiley and her husband Eddie of Davis; seven grandchildren, Patrick Fountain and his wife Usha of Ada, Martin Fountain of Chicago, Ill., Karen Hudson and her husband John of Ada, Paul Motes Jr. of McAlester, Denise Bishop of McAlester, Amber Poindexter and her husband Rodney of Ratliff City, and Vanessa Terry of Ada; great-grandchildren, Kacy Clark, Kelli Clark, Nathan Fountain, Miranda Ball, Brayden Motes, Jaiden Motes, Kaitlyn Motes, Destiny Motes, Dathan Poindexter, Cheyanna Poindexter and Lacie Jean Poindexter; three brothers, John Hooper and his wife Floy of Del City, Joe Hooper of Mountain View, and Ben Hooper of Fittstown; and two sisters, Jewell Mullinax of Mountain View and Dorothy Johnson of Carnegie.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Hooper, and two brothers, Homer Hooper and Tom Hooper.
Bearers will be Randy Griffin, Todd Crabtree, Pat Fountain, Martin Fountain, Paul Moats Jr., and John Hudson.
