Reverend Walter Lee Harvey, age 88, Son of the late Warner & Lillian V. Harvey, a Native of Gainesville who relocated here from West Palm Beach and Port Saint Lucie, Florida, former Pastor, Teacher, Police Officer, Navy & Army Veteran, left us on Thursday, May 11, 2017, during a brief stay at the VA Medical Center (Gainesville, FL).

Following his graduation at Lincoln High School, Rev. Harvey became a 1956 Graduate of Bethune-Cookman College (of Daytona Beach, FL) where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science. He later received his Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision from Nova University (Fort. Lauderdale, FL). He taught History at Roosevelt High School (West Palm Beach, FL) and was called to the Ministry in 1978 where he ministered in West Palm Beach, Okeechobee, and Moore Haven, Florida.

The Homegoing Celebration (with Military Honors) will be held 11:00AM Friday, May 19, 2017, at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church (Gainesville, FL) with his Pastor, Reverend Karl V. Smith delivering the Eulogy. Burial will follow at the Florida National Cemetery (for Veterans) in Bushnell, FL on Monday. Rev. Harvey will be viewed at the Funeral Home on Thursday 2:00-7:00PM (at which time, the Family will receive Friends 5:00-7:00PM) - And at the Church on Friday 30 Minutes prior to the Services - And with the Processional. The Procession will form at the residence of his sister, Mary H. Lewis, 2212 NE 7th Ave, Gainesville at 10:15AM.

Endearing Memories will remain with his: son - Willie James Cutts of Lehigh Acres, FL; sister - Mary H. Lewis of Gainesville, FL; (siblings - Lillie M. Covington, Hercules Jackson, Lamonteen Anderson, James Harvey and Alphonso Harvey preceded him in death); 1 grandson; 2 great grands; nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
