Rita M. Bryant, age 83, lived in Gainesville, Florida for 51 years and moved to Ocala on August 4th, 2016. She passed away on Friday, May 5th, 2017, at West Marion Hospital. Rita was born on June 15, 1933, in Naples, Italy to Pasquale Marranno and Maria Romagnoli. She was one of 12 children.

Survivors include immediate family members, Joseph L. Bryant (son) and his wife, Suzanne; Maria Amlong (daughter) and her husband, Jeffrey; and their son, Stevan Amlong and his wife, Devin. She is also survived by her brother Giovanni, sister Anna, brother-in-law Homer Bryant and many in-laws, nieces and nephews in the United States and in Italy.

Rita married Alpha McCook Bryant, Jr. on November 18, 1962 in a Catholic church in Naples. Their son, Joseph, was born in the naval hospital in Naples in early 1964 and the family moved to the United States when Alpha (Al) retired from the Navy in November of 1964. They moved to Gainesville in July of 1965.

Rita’s last trip to Italy was during the summer of 2001, when Joseph and Suzanne took Rita on a shared vacation to visit the family. It was a special trip with great memories.

Rita Bryant was predeceased by her husband, Alpha McCook Bryant, Jr. who passed on May 21, 2011, and is buried in the Florida National Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday June 2, 2017 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd, with The Rev. Jonathan French officiating. Inurnment will take place at Florida National Cemetery at 1pm.
