Tony Nelson Thomas, 52, of Newton, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at his home.
Born Sept. 21, 1964, in La., he was the son of Wayne Thomas and the late Regina Withmier Thomas.
Tony was a Maiden High School Class of 1982 graduate and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He enjoyed hiking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Tony was a loving father to Lynn, T.J. and Jesse Thomas. He was also an attentive grandfather to Landon, Avery and Mason Thomas and Brawley Gunner Will.
In addition to his father, Wayne Thomas, he is also survived by his sister, Tina Huggins; brother, Tracy Thomas and wife, Toni; grandmother, Lula Coley and his loving girlfriend, Chrissy Kees along with her children, Robbie and Jacob Kees.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 20, at the Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton with Pastor Tommy Hullette officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 20, from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
