J. B. Sathre Obituary

Johnny Burdette Sathre, son of Peder Johannes and Berthina Sathre, was born June 19, 1898, at Adams, Minn. He lived in Adams until 1919, then moved to 406 Water St., Austin, residing there until 1945, when he moved to 805 11th St. NW.

He attended Adams School and on Sept. 18, 1919, married Bertha Benson at Marshall Lutheran Church, Adams. He worked for eight years as a boilermaker for the railroad and the past 36 years was a mechanic at Hormel Co.

John Sathre died at 6:30 a.m. Sept. 9, at his home after suffering a heart attack.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha; five daughters, Mrs. Byron (Helen) Huseby, Adams, Mrs. Basil (Dorothy) Bellrichard, Austin, Mrs.Robert (Donna) Kilgore, Alburquerque, N.M., Mrs. Thomas (Joan) Adams, Whittier, Calif., Mrs. Gary (Ann Marie) Eppen, Chicago, Ill.; four sons, Harvey of Adams, Paul, Maynard, William of Austin; 33 grandchildren; six nieces and nephews; one brother, Alfred of Adams; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Bowen, Fargo, N.D., Mrs. Joy Nelson, Miss Karen Sathre, Adams.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two brothers, Henry and Edwin; one sister, Nora Sathre; one granddaughter, Priscilla Sathre.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Sept. 11, at St.Olaf Lutheran Church, Rev. A.L. Swenson officiating. Worlein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Grand View Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Clarence Siehl, Harold Watson, Oscar Lindstrom, Peter Dieser, Earl Beckel, Howard Anderson.
