George William Gross, Jr. passed away on May 13, 2017 at his son's home in Carrollton, GA.
A resident of Perdido Beach, AL since 1990, George was born near Reynolds, Indiana on November 23, 1936 to George Gross Sr. and Carrie Dalzill. George served 26 years in the U.S. Navy retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1982. He captained the Highpoint fishing boat for most of his retirement, servicing charters in Orange Beach, AL. The sea was his life, fishing was his passion.
When George was transferred to Pensacola in 1974, he fell deeply in love with the area and called it home, knowing he would retire there.
George was preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years, Catherine Helen Forker, and his second wife of 8 years, Charlotte Jo Baker, both of whom he loved dearly. George's first son and his namesake George Gross III, passed in 2014.
He is survived by two sons, James Lewis Gross of Carrollton, GA and Joel Lee Gross of Howey in the Hills, FL; 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
