Ramon Aceves Sr. was a New Almaden quicksilver miner. According to family lore, he had a sleep disorder that caused him to fall asleep while riding his donkey home from the mine in New Almaden. He fell off the donkey and was dragged a distance. His family found him dead, tied to the donkey, outside their cabin. An Aceves descendant said Ramon was buried in the Guadalupe Cemetery.
