Elsie Ruth Pforts, age 91, of Mediapolis, died Tuesday morning, May 16, 2017, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. The daughter of Wallace and Hattie Hinson Walker, she was born on January 12, 1926 in rural Sperry. On May 25, 1944, she married R. Orville Pforts in Sperry. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1983.
Elsie was a farm homemaker and had worked at Midwest Biscuit Co. in Burlington before her marriage and later worked at Huron School as a cook and the later as a clerk for Fry’s variety Store and also at Remember Inn.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Mediapolis, the PW Association, the Morning Circle, and the Young at Heart. She was also a member of the Sunshine Club. Elsie enjoyed playing cards, jig saw puzzles, needlepoint, and most of all her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Orville.
