On Saturday May 13, the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima took Miriam home. She was born to John T. and Emma Roos Garry. She graduated from Nazareth College in Rochester New York, majoring in Design, with a minor in Speech. She was employed by Atlantic Bell Telephone as a draftsman in Engineering. She later became a traveling spokesperson and teacher for Atlantic Bell Telephone. She was a member of the National Ski Patrol, and also the Civil Air Patrol.
During the Nationwide Bell system telephone strike of 1971, she met her husband Clyde Adams, who was on loan from Boise, Idaho to work for Atlantic Bell Telephone. Mim's boss asked Clyde to give her a ride up to northern New York to her original work location. She told us that her first thought was "who was that character with all the stories?" They were married in September of 1972 in Lake George, New York.
Mim soon became accustomed to her new life in Idaho. She enjoyed her new acquired family and graciously helped us as needed. She was a member of Saint Mary's Church since 1972 and was a Lady Shriner. After retirement with AT&T, she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and regularly enjoyed their monthly lunches. After her and Clyde's retirement, they traveled across the nation in their motor home. Motor homing was her passion. The both enjoyed fishing and camping.
She is predeceased by her husband, Clyde; brother, John T Garry Jr.; stepson, Larry Adams; son-in-law, Gary Gustaves; and step grandson, Christian Adams.
She is survived by her sisters, Threse A Zeh, Folsom, CA; Anne G Richmond, Albany, NY; step daughter, Jeanne Gustaves, Boise, ID; step son, Bud Adams and his wife Caron of Mountain Home, ID. She is survived by numerous step grandchildren, great step grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to extend a huge thank you to all the staff at St. Luke's Hospital for her great care in her final days.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Saturday, May 20th, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church 2612 W. State St. Boise, ID 83702. There will be a viewing one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Dry Creek Cemetery at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers, she has requested contributions to be sent to Saint Mary's Church.
