American and Soviet actor, film director and producer. He was born Oleg Borisovich Vidov. He made his debut in 1961, appearing in 50 films. Father Boris Nikolaevich Garnevich and mother Varvara Ivanovna Vidova. Their family lived in the USSR, Germany and Mongolia. In 1960, he played his first role in the teen drama "My Friend Kolka" In 1962, he begain actors courses at 'VGIK' led by "Yakov Segel" and "Yuri Pobedonostsev". In 1964, studying as a student he acted in several movies, including lead acting roles in "The Blizzard" and "An Ordinary Miracle". In 1966, he graduated and continued his active movie career. He was also noticed by foreign directors and was given permission to perform in such films as "Hagbard" and "Signe" by "Denmark, Sweden, and Iceland" and "Battle of Neretva" by "Yugoslavia, Italy, West Germany and United States", as well as "Soviet, Italian, American production Waterloo". In 1970, he married an actress "Natalia Vasilievna Fedotova". According to some, she was a daughter of the powerful "KGB" general "Vasily Fedotov" he was known for his friendship with Leonid Brezhnev and his daughter "Galina Brezhneva". Vidov denied it, claiming that his father-in-law was in fact a professor of "Russian History" who worked at the University, although he said that "Galina Brezhneva" was a close friend of his wife. They had a son "Vyacheslav". Soon he started dating a "VGIK" student "Malvina Vishnya", which led to many public scandals between her and his wife. In 1976, he filed for divorce. "Fedotova" and "Brezhneva", tried to use their influence to ruin his career. He stopped getting big roles. In 1978 he directed courses at "VGIK" lead by "Efim Dzigan", he couldn't receive his diploma until "Stanislav Rostotsky" stepped in and awarded his short film "Crossing" with the highest grade. In 1983, he was given permission to live and work in "Yugoslavia" with his second wife, she was an actress. In May 1985, Soviet authorities without notice gave him 72 hours to return to "Moscow", so an Austrian actor friend helped get an Austrian visa for him. Together, they drove to the Yugoslavian, Austrian border where he entered into "Austria". He was then able to migrate to the United States under a refugee visa from the "American Embassy" in "Rome" obtained with the help of the "International Rescue Committee". He continued his film career in Hollywood, working in "Red Heat" 1988 with "Arnold Schwarzenegger", "Wild Orchid" 1990 with "Mickey Rourke", and "Love Affair 1994 with "Warren Beatty". He was also featured in the TV movie "The Immortals" HBO 1995 and 1996, and in the TV movie "Wishmaster", "Evil Never Dies" HBO 1998 and 1999. His work in television included roles in "The West Wing" NBC, 1999 thru 2006 and "Alias" ABC 2001 thru 2006. At age 70, he served as the voice of the revered Russian director "Andrei Tarkovsky" in a documentary called "Time Within Time," based on Tarkovsky's diary directed by "PJ Letofsky". When he was in "America" married "Joan Borsten", who was the daughter of the Hollywood publicist, scriptwriter and studio executive "Orin Borsten". In 1988, him and his wife, "Joan Borsten Vidov" formed Films by "Jove, Inc"., a film production and distribution company. Together, they obtained international distribution rights to the award winning "Soyuzmult film Studio Animation library" in 1992 and helped popularize Soviet animation around the world. In 2007, he co founded "Malibu Beach Recovery Center", a well respected alcohol, and drug treatment program based on the principles of neuroscience in "Malibu, California". He served as "Chairman" of the Board, and his wife "Joan Borsten" with him as CEO, until June 2014 when they sold the Center to a medical investment branch of "Wells Fargo Bank". The "Malibu Beach Recovery Center" has been featured on television shows such as "A&E's Intervention". He is survived by his wife, health care advocate and film producer "Joan Borsten Vidov", his sons, "Viacheslav" and "Sergei", and a grandson.
