Paul A. “Ray” Silvers, 74, of North Vernon passed away on May 13, 2017 at I.U. Health Methodist in Indianapolis.

Born October 20, 1942 in Burnside, Kentucky, Mr. Silvers was the son of Oscar and Sara Coomer Silvers. He married Dora Wilson on July 27, 1974 in Shelbyville; she survives.

Mr. Silvers retired as a machine operator in 1988 from Oldin Brass in Indianapolis where he had worked for 15 years and he had previously worked for three years as a tour director for the Lexington Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Silvers was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Kidder, Kentucky. He enjoyed horses, coon and rabbit hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Dora Silvers of North Vernon; sons, Tim (Rita) Horn and Tony Horn both of North Vernon, Gary Silvers of Indianapolis and Terry (Sherry) Horn of Rushville; a daughter, Connie Silvers of Somerset, Kentucky; brother, William Silvers of Delta, Kentucky; sister, Thelma Jones of Brownsburg; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ricky Silvers, sisters, Helen Gibson, Faye Howell and Frances Silvers and brother-in-law, Johnny Jones.

A funeral service for Mr. Silvers will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Brother, Ulanda Price officiating. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
