DEATH OF THE DUCHESS DOWAGER OF BEAUFORT
We regret to announce the death of the Dowager Duchess of Beaufort, who expired after a brief illness, on Saturday afternoon, at Westbrook Hall, near Berkhampstead, where the venerable Duchess had been staying with the Hon. Granville Dudley and Lady Georgiana Ryder since the death of her son the late Duke. The deceased Duchess, who was in her 84th year, having been born 11th Jan. 1771, was fifth daughter of Granville, first Marquis of Stafford, and married 11th May, 1791, Henry Charles, sixth Duke of Beaufort, by whom she had a numerous family -- the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, Lord Calthorpe, Lady Elizabeth Orde, Lady Georgiana Ryder, Lady Louisa Finch, and Lady Mary Farquhar, are her surviving children. By the demise of this pious and charitable lady, the families of the Duke and Duchess of Norfolk, the Marquis and Marchioness of Westerminster, the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, the Marquis and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, Lord and Lady Raglan, the Earl and Countess of Galloway, Sir Christopher and Georgiana Codrington, Viscount and Lady Blanche Dupplin, the Earl Granville, the Earl and Countess of Harrowby, the Earl and Countess of Ellesmere, and many others of distinction, are placed in mourning.
