Daughter of David Hostetter & Mary Byrant Hostetter

BUENA VISTA, Feb. 1951 – Mrs. Sarah Catherine Hostetter Chittum, 98, wife of Andrew Jackson Chittum, who observed his 100th birthday last July 4, died at her home Monday morning.

A native of Rockbridge County, she was married onMarch 8, 1881, and with her husband moved to Buena Vista in 1900.

Besides the husband, five sons and two daughters survive; James Chittum, Baltimore, Robert Chittum, Rockbridge County, George, Edward and Sylvester Chittum, all of Buena Vista; two daughters: Mrs. John McMamama, Buena Vista and Mrs. John Hostetter of Midvale; a brother, Thomas Hostetter, of Goshen: 50 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

BUENA VISTA, Feb. 20, 1951 – Funeral of Mrs. Sarah Hostetter Chittum, wife of Andrew Jackson Chittum, who died at her home Monday morning will take place Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the home. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery near Fairfield.
