Sidney Ray Moore, 62, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at home. Sidney was born on November 13, 1954 to the late Alfred Horton of Winston Salem, N.C. and Mattie B. Moore-Ziegler of Ridgeway, Va. He was raised in the Chestnut Knob community.

Sidney attended George Washington Carver High School and Drewry Mason High School. In 1972 Sidney entered the United States Navy until 1975 serving aboard U.S.S. Independence. After his honorable discharge in 1975 he worked for First Hospital Corporation in the Mental Health Division as a Mental Health Specialist in Norfolk, Va. located in the Tidewater area. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Moore of Norfolk, Va., two brothers, Roy Howard Moore, Curtis Price Moore and nephew, Gary Lee Moore.

Sidney is survived by eight siblings: Theresa B. Gallant of Martinsville, Va., Brenda J. Moore and Linda M. Giles of Ridgeway, Va., Alfred Moore (Linda) Martinsville, Va., James Moore (Mattie) of Columbus, Ohio, George Moore of Ridgeway, Va., Mary Moore and Lisa Davis of Columbus, Ohio. He has two surviving aunts, James Hairston of Spencer, Va. and Philisty Z. Price of Martinsville, Va. He is also survived by his special companion, Constance Pruitt and her children: Tchaundia Pruitt, La Freda Pruitt; and two grandchildren: Taylor Lancaster and Makai Jackson all of Eden, N.C. Also cherishing his memory is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Sidney was a member of Ambassadors for Christ Ministries, located in Eden, N.C.; Pastor E. Leroy Valentine.

Funeral service will be held Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the C.R.V. Hairston Memorial Chapel, at Hairston Funeral Home. Pastor E. Leroy Valentine, officiating.

Interment will be in Carver Memorial Gardens, Martinsville, Va.
