Betsy J. Johnson, 79, passed away Thursday morning at her residence in Eau Claire.

Betsy was born in Eau Claire, Wis., to Marshall and Hannah (Peterson) Fotland on January 21, 1927. She married Milton Johnson on August 28, 1947, in Decorah, Iowa. Betsy was a loving wife and mother. She was known as the best baker in the family, often baking breads and sweets for others. Betsy loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing bingo.

She is survived by her husband Milton; four daughters, Cindy (Warren) Fischer of Fall Creek, Trudy (Jake) Bonkowske of Esko, Minn., Kimberly Polus of Eau Claire and Peggy (Dan) Webster of Altoona; one sister, Faith (Charles) Schultz of Eau Claire; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her "fifth" daughter, Betty Seidel of Cadott.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Glen and Edward Fotland.

A special mention of her grandson, Josh Porter, who enjoyed spending time with his grandmother and spent many nights by her side.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, at Stokes & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway (Highway 12 East) in Altoona, with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven cemetery, town of Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
