Robert M. Lance, age 89 of Adrian, died Friday, May 12, 2017, at Tecumseh Place. He was born on July 21, 1927, in North Star, MI to John and Vera (Lockwood) Lance. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1945-1947. On March 9, 1948, Robert married Marilyn Fillingham in Angola, IN and she preceded him in death in 1998. He worked for Berndt’s Jewelry as a Jeweler and Watchmaker and he was the first diamond cutter in the state of Michigan. Robert was the Governor for the local Moose Lodge and a member of the Eagles, Lions Club and the V.F.W.
Robert is survived by three sons; Ronald (Diane), Christopher (Janet), and Terry (Vickie Zolman) Lance; two daughters, Sharon and Melissa Lance; four brothers, John, Gaylord “Jack”, Basil, and James Russ Lance; 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; two brothers, Don and Art Lance; two sisters, Anna Mae Abbot and Eleanor Sanders; and one grandson, Dustin Lance.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian with his son, Pastor Ronald Lance officiating. Burial will be in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #97 and V.F.W. Post #1584 Annis-Fint. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian.
