Obituary for Charles Edward Batchelor

Charles Edward Batchelor, age 78 of Abbeville, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 16th in the Abbeville First Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour before the service from 1-2 PM in the church. Reverend Tony Dixon, Reverend Jim Faircloth and Reverend Chuck Taylor will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in the Stubbs Cemetery.

Mr. Batchelor was born on February 15, 1939 in Abbeville, Ga. He was son of the late Elmo E. Batchelor and Lucile Phillips Batchelor.

He was retired Civil Service employee with Robins Air Force Base with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Abbeville First Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School Director. He was former member and Past President of the Abbeville Lions Club. He served on the Abbeville City Council and Mayor for 34 years. He served his country with honor in the United States Army.

Survivors include: wife-Andrea Batchelor of Abbeville, sons-Tracey (Lucy) Batchelor of Boston, Mass. and Scott (Alicia) Batchelor of Atlanta and Breck Batchelor of Abbeville, 5-grandchildre-Adam, Emily, Gracy, Sophia and Julia Batchelor.

Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle has charge of arrangements.
