STONEWALL, LA – Services to honor the life of Mr. Joseph P. Davis, 81, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Brookwood Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. John Harp. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive guests on Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.

Joseph was born in Houston, MS on April 3, 1936, and passed away on May 14, 2017. He was raised on the Mississippi Delta during the depression and was one of eleven children born to John Parker Davis and Mary Emma Little Davis. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Special Forces and was at one time, the youngest NCO in Korea. Joseph was a master upholsterer and had been in the business all of his life. He was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church and also served as Master Mason at Cedar Grove Lodge #403. In his family's eyes, and those who knew him well, Joseph was the greatest man they had ever known.

He is preceded in death by four of his brothers, Bobby, Franky, Jimmy, and John Davis; his grandfather, Joseph Richard Larkin Little, and his parents. Left to cherish Joseph's memory is his wife of 62 years, Opal Davis; sons, Ricky Joe Davis, Stan Paul Davis and wife Gina, Mark Delane Davis and wife Kathy, and Chad Myers; sisters, Barbara Corley, Glenda Clegg and husband Wayne, and Jackie Buskirk and husband Danny; brothers, Charles Davis and wife Sally, Kenneth "Kebo" Davis and wife Debbie, and Donald Davis; and his grandchildren, Christopher Paul, Garrett Lee, Jacob J.L., Jordan C.W., Jentry M.E., and Katie Marie Davis.

Honoring Mr. Davis as pallbearers are his grandsons and Mr. Chad Myers. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews, John Glen, Kevin, Little Jim, and John Parker Davis, and Danny Buskirk, along with Mr. Larry Porter.
