Lewis F. “Frank” Curtis, 80, of Uhrichsville, died Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Schoenbrunn Health Care Center following a brief illness. Born December 26, 1928 at Springfield, OH, he was a son of the late Owen E. and Nola (Freeland) Curtis.
A resident of our area since 1950, Frank retired following a career in the clay industry, having worked as a kiln fireman at both the Evans and Whitaker-Greer clay plants. Frank attended Park Christian Church at Dennison and was a member of Tuscarawas V.F.W. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed woodworking. Frank served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On November 6, 1965, Frank married M. June (Nign) Curtis who survives him at their home in Uhrichsville. In addition to June, Frank’s surviving family includes three sons, Ronald and wife Terri, Dennis and wife Jackie, and Michael and wife Chris, all of Dennison; two daughters-in-law, Crystal Karns of Bowerston and Karen Bolitho of Scio; a special adopted daughter, Kay Miller of Cincinnati; three sisters, Patty Sparks and Peggy Curtis of Jamestown, OH and Kay Waddel of Portsmouth, OH; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a son and daughter, David Ray and Sandra Kay; three sisters, Virginia Clark, Helen Laurens, and JoAnn Krewson; and one brother, Charles Curtis.
In keeping with his wishes, Frank will be cremated with no public services to be held. Those wishing to honor Frank’s memory may do so to Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
