Harold LeRoy Amick, 94, of Anderson and passed away May 9, 2017, at Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield. He was born to Andrew Wesley Amick and Betsy Mae (Williams) Amick in Bronson, Iowa.
His family moved from Iowa to the Sand Hills of Nebraska when Harold was 3. They farmed and ran a saw mill, which Harold carried on for several years after his father passed away. After serving in the Navy during World War II, Harold returned home to marry Edna (Edwards) on June 2, 1946. Four of his six children started life in this farm area.
In the late 50s the family moved to the eastern end of Nebraska, where he worked farmer, construction and T.V. repair. In the early 70s two younger children and Harold and Edna moved to Indiana to continue in the construction field, and later worked for St. John Hospital as a cabinet maker and electrician for 10 years.
Harold enjoyed gardening and fishing at his summer home in Minnesota and family gatherings. He was always happy building.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years; his parents; two brothers, Ernest and Marion; sister, Mildred; grandchild, Joshua, and a great-grandchild, Sierra.
He is survived by four sons, Bradley L Amick (Cindy), Roy L Amick (Barbara G), Charles L Amick (Barbara A) and Eric L Amick (Tammy); two daughters, Mary Switzer and Marsha Carman; nine grandchildren, Sean Wilbur, Daniel Amick, Shea Wilbur, Jarrad Amick, Bethany Carman, Brittany Carman, Justin Amick, Benjamin Amick and Brandon Edwards; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Loose Funeral Home & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dennis Zirkle officiating.
Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park, with military graveside rites conducted by U.S. Navy and Daleville American Legion Post 5782.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Parkview Wesleyan Church in Chesterfield.
