Melvin L. Cline, 74, formerly of Mechanicsburg passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 surrounded by his loving family in the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born September 1, 1942 in Carlisle, PA to the late Bruce and Isabella Karper Cline.

Melvin served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as the meat manager from Giant Food Store with 35 years of service. Melvin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carlisle; a lifetime member of VFW #7343 and American Legion #109. He enjoyed archery, fishing and spending time at the cabin with his brothers.

Surviving Melvin is his wife of 49 years, Hilda Jane Cline formerly of Mechanicsburg; his two daughters, Anita Lowe (and husband, Rick) of Landisburg and Crystal Graham (and husband, Doug) of Carlisle; stepsons, Gene Avery (and wife, Jill) of Virginia and Brain Avery of South Carolina; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Dale Cline (and wife, Susan) of Mechanicsburg and Robert Winters (and wife, Grace) of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews. Melvin was preceded in death by siblings, Anna Paulus, Glenn Cline, Gerald Winters, Jack Winters and Clyde Winters.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:30 AM in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with the Pastor Alan Lane officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 13067, Alexandria, VA 22312. Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory, Mt. Holly Springs, PA.
