Ryan Francis Larkin, US Navy SEAL, age 29, passed away on Sunday, April 23rd.

Ryan was raised in Severna Park, MD, graduating from Severna Park High School in 2005. In 2006, Ryan enlisted in the US Navy having volunteered for the Navy SEAL Challenge Program. Ryan entered Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training, graduating with Class 268. He received his SEAL Trident and Navy Parachute Wings upon completion of SEAL Qualification Training in October 2008. He was trained as a Special Operations Combat Medic and a Naval Special Warfare Sniper. Ryan had two combat deployments to Iraq and two deployments to Afghanistan, along with missions to Lebanon and Honduras.

He was awarded the Bronze Star, Army Commendation and Navy-Marine Corp Achievement medals with valor, as well as numerous other awards. Ryan finished his Navy Special Warfare tour as the Lead Petty Officer and senior instructor for the Special Operations Urban Combat Course of instruction for deploying SEAL Teams. Ryan received an Honorable Discharge in March 2016 and was attending Anne Arundel Community College pursuing a degree in Mathematics.

Ryan was a renaissance man who loved playing music, enjoyed the arts and sciences, boating, shooting, and the outdoors.

He is survived by his father Frank J. Larkin, also a former Navy SEAL; mother, Jill L. Larkin; sister, Kelly Larkin-Bendtsen; brother-in-law, Lasse Bendtsen; niece, Liv Larkin-Bendtsen; close friend Kristen Gonzales and his service dog, Kopek.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 1-4 PM at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park, with a Memorial Service beginning at 4:00 PM. Final interment with honors at Arlington National Cemetery is being planned for a future date and will be announced.
