Virginia Dimmel, 89, of Olathe, Kansas passed away, April 2, 2017. Virginia was born September 20, 1927 to Dale and Helen Shrock in Oak Grove, MO. She lived most of her life in Independence, MO where she met and married her childhood sweetheart, Charles Dimmel. Virginia attended Christian College in Columbia MO where she sang and played piano on a University of Missouri radio show. She worked as an executive assistant for several law firms and was active in many Independence social clubs including Young Matrons, the Junior Chamber of Commerce and as three time president of the General Federated Women's Club, local chapter. As the remarkable Dimmel family matriarch, Virginia was known as a fabulous cook, hostess, mentor, confidante, composer pianist, writer, friend, devoted wife, mother and MeMee to her adoring grandchildren. A lifelong member of the First Methodist Church, she was also volunteer and Sunday school teacher. A giver and spiritual seeker, Virginia made life an adventure and a celebration for her loved ones and friends. Dimmel was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles and son, Drew. She is survived by son, Douglas (Liz), daughter, Suzanne Dimmel (Roger Lumley), daughter in law, Jane, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-granddaughters. A memorial service will be held at First Methodist Church Independence, MO. on Saturday, May 20 at 11:00 AM with a private burial to follow.
