CHESHIRE - Deonne C. Gibbs, 82, wife of the late Leighton Gibbs Sr., died on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Elim Park Place after a brief illness. Born in Waterbury Center, Vt. on Nov. 24, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Heman and Mary Edith (Magoon) Sweet. Deonne was a member of Amazing Grace Fellowship Church, of Yalesville. She cherished her time with her family.She is survived by two daughters, Starr Hillhouse and her husband, Jim, and Hope Ramol and her husband, Dave; seven sons, Duane Gibbs and his wife, Linda, Matthew Gibbs and his wife, Sue, Peter Gibbs and his wife, Debbie, Leighton Gibbs Jr., Elijah Gibbs and his wife, Myrna, Mark Gibbs and his wife, Nathalie, and Tim Gibbs; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gibbs was predeceased by a son, Samuel Gibbs.The funeral will be held on Monday, May 9, at 7 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, Conn., with Pastor Jeff Fuller officiating. Burial will be private.
