HALIFAX - Arla G. Bowman, 95, Peters Mountain Road, passed away Thursday, May 11th, 2017 at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, Harrisburg.

She was born on October 28, 1921 in Harrisburg, daughter of the late Varnes G. and Almeda (Hoffman) Miller.

She had worked in the past for the PA. Dept of Revenue. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Enterline.

She was a Life member of the Halifax Area Historical Society, Life member of the Harrisburg Area Civic Garden Center, Founder, 1st President, and life member of the Halifax Area Garden Club, and had memberships with the Garden Club of Harrisburg, Friends of Fort Halifax Park Inc., Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art , South Central PA Iris Club, Harrisburg Area Christian Women's Club, Halifax Centennial Silver Bells and Penn Ferry Doll Club. She was a program presenter on "Thinking Christmas" and the "Versatile Egg" and other garden club related subjects for 39 years. She was an avid reader, artist, sculptor of "whymsie wood" and gardener.

She was the widow of Jay Chadwick Bowman.

Survivors include two daughters, April Bowman Taylor and her husband W. Edward of Millersburg and Jan Bowman Snyder and her husband Dale of Millersburg; granddaughter Jill Taylor Diamonds and her husband Solomon of Old Forge, PA, granddaughter Jennifer Snyder Musselman and her husband Richard of Camp Hill, grandson Chadwick Bowman Snyder and his wife Leslie of Lykens, nine great grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin, Katelyn, Jacob, Caroline, Alexis, Cole, Gavin and Avery, three great great grandchildren Zander, Hadley, Grace, and Ethan David, grandson-in-law Matthew of Camp Hill and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Roger and Clark Miller, 2 Sisters Olive Holtzman and Naomi Donofrio, and granddaughter Tricia Taylor Coniglio.

There will be a visitation at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Enterline on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 2-3:00 PM. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 PM, and inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Hoover-Boyer Funeral Homes Inc., Millersburg handled the arrangements.
