Vernon H Riley, 88, Blue Ridge Summit R1, died Sunday night at 10:45 at the Warner Hospital. He had been in ill health for the past year.
Born in Zora, he was the son of the late David P and Laura Hahn Riley. His wife, the former
Florence Sanders, died in 1967.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Fairfield.
He had owned and operated the Woodcrest Orchards on Fairfield RD for 50 years.
He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Gettysburg.
Surviving are three children; D Calvin, Fairfield R2; Mrs. Mildred Hull, Blue Ridge Summit R1 and
Mrs. Pauline Koontz, Emmitsburg R2; and two granddaughters. He had resided with one of the granddaughters; Mrs. Bette Musselman, Blue Ridge Summit R1.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Dyck, Guilford Convalescent Home, Fayetteville and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 from the Monahan Funeral Home, Fairfield, with his pastor, Rev. David L Hunsberger officiating. Interment will be in the Fairfield Union Cemetery.
