Memorial visitation will be from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 6, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with memorial services at 2:00 p.m. following the visitation. Masonic rites will be conducted immediately following the memorial service, by Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge #979 AF & AM.
Dean was born September 6, 1931, near Lovington, IL, the son of Glen and Mildred (Gould) Evans. He married E. Joan Standerfer on May 31, 1953 in Lovington, IL.
Dean retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1992 after 37 years of service. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Dean was a member of Antioch Christian Church, Golden K Kiwanis, Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge #979 AF & AM, past Master of Ionic Lodge #312 AF & AM, member of Decatur York Rite, Springfield Consistory, Springfield Ansar Shrine Temple, and Caterpillar Retirees Club. He also loved to play golf and keep a golf course lawn at home.
He is survived by his wife Joan of 62 years; sons Dean Alan (Cheemee) Evans of Highland Ranch, CO, Jeffrey Lynn Evans of Urbana, IL; 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers L.R. “Bob” and Dick.
