Mrs. Kelley died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. H. Comstock, near the Williamstown line, in this town, on Friday night. She was in her 97th year. Bernard her little grandson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Foley, died five days before her death, aged three and one-half years. He was a bright, loveable little fellow and his grandmother grieved so much over his death that it is believed to have greatly hastened hers.
She was born in County Roscommon, Ireland, and came to America 46 years ago. Two years later she settled on the farm where she spent the rest of her life. Mrs. Kelley was the oldest woman in this town and it is believed that she was the oldest in the county. Of late years her infirmities rested heavily upon her but she was always bright and cheerful and her death brought sadness to many.
Mrs. Kelley is survived by four sons, Michael, Martin and Thomas of Winnepeg, Man., and Patrick of Westdale, and two daughters, Mrs. D. H. Comstock of this place and Mrs. Thomas Cronin of Winnepeg. She also leaves 35 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Kelley's three sons in Winnepeg are former residents of this place and are now among the richest and most influential of Winnepeg’s citizens. Michael and Thomas Kelley went to that place about 30 years ago when it was a small but thriving village. They engaged in the contracting business and later they were joined by their other brother, Martin. They were remarkably successful from the start and many of the large blocks, residences, aqueducts, bridges, etc., in and about Winnepeg were built by the Kelley Brothers. They have handled many of the largest government jobs and have won an enviable reputation for the excellence of all their work, as well as a comfortable fortune for each.
