Mr. Bowman was born June 1, 1942 in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Dorothy (Marks) and Walter D. Bowman, and died Sunday, May 7, 2017 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Bowman resided in Angelina County most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and was a machinist at DEMCO Manufacturing in Diboll. Mr. Bowman was a great son, brother, father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and growing flowers; he had a green thumb. Mr. Bowman was a Christian.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Kathryn Bowman; daughters and sons-in-law, Dana and Curtis Howell, Sharon Baxter, Tawnya and Greg Perkins; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; father, W.D. “Papa D” Bowman; sister, Betty Bowman Martin; stepsister, Shirley Terrell; stepbrothers and sister-in-law, Wayne Nash and Carroll and Barbara Nash; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Bowman; mother, Dorothy Bowman; sister, Deanna Bowman Sandifer; granddaughter, Stacy Bowman; stepmother, Inez Bowman; and numerous step-siblings.

Memorial services for Jerry will be held May 13, 2017 in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
