Sharon Janis Corbin of Galveston, TX passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the age of 45.
Born in Houston on July 11, 1971 where she grew up and graduated from Stratford High School in the class of 1989, Sharon later graduated from the University of Houston in 1994 with a BS degree in Health Education.
She had work experience with Houston Independent School District, Chinese Community Center, University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston, Centex, Galveston College, Gulf Copper Dry Dock and Ship Repair as a site coordinator, Galveston ISO and, most recently a teacher at Satori School in Galveston Independent School District. She also did contract work for grants and website designs.
Sharon described herself as Mom, Teacher, Friend, Writer and Water Baby. She loved to swim and to teach children to swim. She loved her profession as a teacher and especially adored working with the children and staff at the Satori School. She had a sparkle in her eyes when she spoke of her time there. She loved her two dogs, music of all kinds and she played the saxophone. Sharon was kind-hearted and willingly helped people in need.
She is survived by her daughter, Rachel and husband Sam Ross, her son D.J.; her mom Janis Corbin; her dad Dick Corbin and his wife Mary Elizabeth; brothers David Corbin and wife Nadine and Alan Corbin and wife Michelle; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home
