Richard S. Burnley, 89, of Kevil, died at 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Life Care Center of LaCenter.

Richard was born near Ingleside community on February 1, 1928 to the late William and Edna Anderson Burnley. He retired after 35 years of service with the United States Postal Service. A very active member of his community, Richard was a former Mayor of Kevil and Ballard County Magistrate. He served on several committees including the Kentucky Magistrate Commissioners Association, Mississippi River Parkway Commission and was a Director at Kevil Bank. He was a long-time member of the Kevil United Methodist Church. He farmed his whole life and enjoyed horses and antique tractors.

He is survived by one son, Charles Burnley and wife Connie of Kevil; two grandchildren, Jennifer Pickett and husband, Bradley and Walt Burnley and wife, Valarie; four great-grandchildren, Logan Pickett, Jordan Pickett, Wendy Burnley, Lacey Burnley; one sister, Bonita Abernathy, of Kevil; and one brother, Robert Burnley of Danville, KY.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Luanne Cooper Burnley; three brothers, Edwin, Billy and Van Burnley; one sister, Marie Gholson; and a great grand-daughter.

Funeral Services for Richard will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 12, 2017at Kevil United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Stacy officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery. Visitation for Richard will be from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at the church.
