Entered the Royal Navy in 1751. Three years later was promoted to Lieutenant. July of 1762 made Captain. and in 1775 was knighted.

Married twice.

First: Christiana Gwyn, m. 3 Sep 1763, having one son with her. William Collier
George divorced Christiana. Full script in the Journals of The House of Lords.

Second: Elizabeth Fryer, 19 Jul 1781 at Exeter, England. They had 2 Daughters and four Sons.
Eldest George Collier Jr became Lt-Col-Coldstream Guards. Died at 31 yrs.
2nd: Francis Augustus Collier
3rd: Henry Theodosius Browne Collier
4th: Charles Collier served in Cavalry
