A German immigrant, Conrad Menges was a shoemaker in Baden, Ontario. He and his wife, Anna Eva, had six known children:
- Louisa (1866-1908)
- Edward Anton (1868-1874)
- Emelie Anna (1870-1945)
- William Heinrich (1876-1890)
- Anna Margaretha (1879-?)
- Edwin Albert Herman (1882-1947)

Conrad Menges died on May 15, 1913, at the Germania Hotel in Berlin (now Kitchener), Ontario. (The hotel was operated by Conrad's son-in-law, Henry Steppler.) According to the death certificate, Conrad's death was caused by "senile decay."
