Dennis was born on March 25th, 1956 in Lafayette, TN. the son of Hayden Junior “Pappy” West and Dorothy Joan “Joann” Brown West. His family moved to Illinois in 1965. He married the love of his life Debra Sue Nicholls West on April 8th, 1978 in Atwood IL. She preceded him in death on August 3rd, 2015. Dennis was also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his 3 children: Mandi West of Atwood, Stephanie West of Atwood, and the light of his life Owen Michael Meador who is his grandson he raised since birth. Also surviving are his siblings: brother David West of Decatur and family (Lisa, Brian, and Cathy), brother Daniel West of Atwood and family (Steven, Sandy, Jeremy, and Denny), brother Douglas West (wife Dianna) of Atwood and family (Danny, Darin, and Debra), and sister Deanna West McDonald (husband Neil) of Tuscola and family (Dawna and Benjamin).
Dennis graduated from Atwood-Hammond High School in 1974. He was a retired union construction worker. He was a very loving and hard-working husband, father, brother, and papa with a heart of gold. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.
