Pharmacy Mate Raymor Riley Brown (1898 – 1918)
Rockmart native. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy two months after the United States entered World War I. Assigned to a Medical Unit, he served as a Pharmacy Mate. He died in combat in France on October 7, 1918, coming to the aid of a fallen fellow soldier. He was twenty years old. He is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in the Brown family plot near his parents and sisters. The Brown-Wright American Legion Post 12 Rockmart bears his name along with World War II combat casualty John Preston Wright, another Rockmart native.
