She was the daughter of the late John Borland Finlay and Jane (Brown) Finlay.
After her Mother's passing in 1876, her Father returned with her to the United Kingdom where he was born. While there, she met Lord Adolphus Frederick Stuart-Linton and they wed on 10Dec1878 at the American Embassy in Paris, France. In 1885, she was presented to the Court of St. James in England during the reign of Queen Victoria.
She returned to the USA and lived in her Grandfather's Mansion on Water Street in Kittanning. She alternated living there and in New York.
She is survived by two children, a son Charles Edward Traquair Stuart-Linton and a daughter, Fryda Amy Bertha (Stuart-Linton) Corwin both of New York.
She was cremated in New York and her ashes brought to Kittanning for burial. Her husband, who had preceded her in death in 1914 was exhumed and brought at the same time to Kittanning for burial. They were buried on September 28, 1944 in the Brown Plot, Section D of Kittanning Cemetery with Rev. Wilford Cross of St. Paul's Episcopal Church officiating. Their graves are unmarked.
