Rip married Millie Israel in 1952, and she passed away in 1996. Later, in 1996 he married Marie Gillespie, and she passed away earlier this year.
He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and cook in the Korean War. Later Rip worked at Ford Motor Company, Kansas City.
Others who preceded him in death were his parents, and eight siblings.
Survivors are a son, Charles R. (Melody) of Smithville, Mo.; two grandsons, Grant and Seth Metcalf, both of Kansas City, Mo.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Wright Cemetery, with Pastor Lee Miller officiating, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, Mo.
