Virginia "Ginny" Onaitis Clifton passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at her home in Crozet, Virginia, at the age of 78. Ginny was born in Munhall, Pennsylvania, on April 20, 1939.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Peter and Virginia Clare Onaitis.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Burton Clifton; her two children, David Burton Clifton of Crozet, Virginia, and Lois Clifton Laclef of Bethesda, Maryland; her son-in-law, Patrice Laclef; her four grandchildren, Thomas Burton Clifton of Tempe, Arizona, Frances Ann Clifton of Charlottesville, Virginia, Sophie Clifton Laclef and Matthew Clifton Laclef of Bethesda, Maryland; her brother, Charles "Buddy" Onaitis; and sister-in-law Joyce Hagen Onaitis of Alliance, Ohio.

Ginny grew up in the Pittsburg area. She attended Baldwin-Wallace College in Cleveland, Ohio and Robert Morris University in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Ginny met her husband of 56 years in the Washington, D.C. area while they were working for the United States government during the Eisenhower administration. In the early years of her marriage, Ginny moved frequently with her husband, who worked for IBM. They lived in Silver Spring, Maryland; Zweibrucken, Germany; Bowie, Maryland; Hampton, Virginia, and Miami Shores, Florida, where they raised their children. Ginny had a career in banking and attained the position of Vice President of Bank Atlantic, which is now part of BB&T.

After her children went to college, Ginny and her husband moved to Weston, Florida, where they were active members of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale. Together, they enjoyed playing duplicate bridge. Ginny and Ralph moved to Crozet in 2010 to be near their children and grandchildren. She was very active in the Jefferson Bridge Association in Charlottesville, where she developed many close friendships.

Family will receive friends to celebrate Ginny's lifefrom 2 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at her home, 6114 Laura Lane, Crozet, VA 22932.
