Claudean Brooks Joyner, 81, of Oklahoma City, passed away at Arbor House in Mustang on Thursday, Oct 27, 2011. She was born June 13, 1930 in Geary, the fourth child of Charley and Allean Brooks.
She attended Canadian County Rural Elementry Schools. She was a 1947 graduate of El Reno High School and attended one semester at Central State College in Edmond.
She began her career as a secretary at the State Capitol at the Tax Commission. In 1953 she married Marvin Joyner. There were five step-children, Russell, Jim, Bob, Karen and Jerry Joyner. Marvin's career was in the appliance industry. Claudean and Marvin had homes in Oklahoma, Texas, Illinois and California. Marvin died of heart failure in December 1988.
After his death, Claudean worked as an interior designer for several Oklahoma City companies before retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Claudean was a kind and loyal family member with a ready laugh and an optimistic attitude. To her the glass was half full instead of half empty. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her step-children and their spouses; she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Joyner; her parents, Charley and Allean Brooks; and her sister-in-law, Beverly Brooks.
In lieu of flowers, please give donations to the Alzheimer's Association in her name. Services will be held at Wilson Funeral Home, El Reno, at 12 noon on Nov 6, 2011.
