∼Daughter-Mercy Lincoln 1670-1750
Mary Austin was baptised 5 Aug 1632 at Tenterden, Swanton, Morley (Norfolk), England. She Came to New England w/her parents, Jonas Austin and Constance Allin, in the Hercules 1634/5. She married Thomas Lincoln Jr before 1652.
ary's husband was named Thomas Lincoln, but her husband was born, probably in England before 1630. He was baptized as a child in Hingham Feb. 1637-38 by Rev. Peter Hobart.
There is no surviving tombstone for him. He died before 5 November 1696 in Taunton.
He was deceased by 05 November 1696 when Peter Branch of Preston, Connecticut sold land in Taunton, Bristol, Province of Massachusetts Bay to Nicholas Moorey of Taunton. The land had been received by Branch's wife Hannah as a gift from her father Thomas Lincoln, by deed of gift dated 04 May 1694 "given to Hannah my wife by her father Thomas Linkon dec'd". ( Bristol County Deeds 3:79).
So by this information, we know it would have been impossible for Thomas, husband of Mary Austen, to be the Thomas Lincoln who died in 1708.
Also, Hannah Lincoln Branch's memorial is linked to the wrong father.
Could you fix this? Having these memorials linked is creating a lot of confusion for researchers ... they keep trying to marry Mary Austen to the wrong Thomas Lincoln.
Thanks, David Peirce
